overall a very weird dw season to me. i really like the middle 4 episodes, and thought the first 2 and last 2 were okay-to-bad. for only 8 episodes 50/50 isn't a bad track record but i think the season arc and character drama doesn't land so the season is less than the sum of its parts. much better than chibnall era, still not on the level of s1-10 dw and probably my least favourite rtd series. and yet i have hope!! bring on season 2 i want to see varada sethu

#blahs #dw #in terms of rtd seasons i think s1 and s4 blow this out of the water spectacularly #series 3 has a similar ratio of episodes to me in that i remember liking about half of it and not really liking the other half #but the highs were higher for me and as flawed as the tenmartha conflict might've been at least it like. existed lol #martha felt more defined than ruby as a character and had a more interesting push and pull with ten #so i think it came together a bit more?? though last of the time lords is my other least favourite rtd finale #and s2 i don't love either but i think it's consistently decent and sometimes great and again just does character better #even though imo tenrose largely rides the coattails of ninerose it still builds to a solid tragic conclusion based on their bond #like e.g. sarah jane as classic companion is deployed with much more precision than mel in this season #in terms of how she contributes to the character/story arc happening with tenrose about inevitable separation/abandonment #ANYWAY this is a massive tangent my point is i miss the character drama :( as i have been saying for the last 2 months :(

#and now i will explain them all in detail #cos i started watching hannibal back in like. january or february and will immediately set up camp in my head and started to settle there #*I* pay rent to *HIM*. he lives there permanently. sweating and monologuing constantly #em was not only the character of 2022 but also of 2023 and of 2024 and the rest of the decade and all decades to come #she had such an impact on me keke palmer's performance will live with me forever and i love nope so fucking much #i almost didnt include her because nope was more of a last year obsession. but she lives on #aziraphale.........no comment #severance.......i love them all so much and at first i wanted just irving and then just helly and then i realise i cried over mark this week #and then i realised i couldnt possibly leave out dylan when hes probably my favourite character. so then i settled for all of them #hawkeye is my fucking wife. enough said #martha... well i knew i had to have a doctor who character. i thought maybe the doctor but then i thought their companions mean more to me #sometimes at least. i did have a fourteen icon for a while but then i was like but Donna..... and then i thought. well #these past few months at least martha jones has been eating away at my heart. i go batshit insane when i think about her #her impact. her grace. her power. so she had to go on the list.it was a toss up between her and donna for sure though #then i figured i had to include a karamazov since reading that book took up half of my year. and ivan was my favourite of the 3. so <3 #kim goes without saying. literally nothing to be said hes the character Of All Time. to me #stewy also goes without saying ive had so many Stewy Save Me moments since the beginning of season 4 all the way to the end of the year #i miss him every day. he is the moment. i wish there was more of him all the time #and the last one is a bit of a wildcard cos all my insanity abt melshi has been on my andor sideblog.#but rest assured ive been thoroughly Not Normal about him. he literally side appears in 4 episodes and has 11 total minutes onscreen #but i love him. so much. and hes occupied most of my thoughts since september. once again his impact his power his grace. his homosexuality #enough said. that's all. thanks for reading. this was a great year for autism and madness #tag game #🍪

i think human nature/family of blood is a really good two parter in how it manages to show how full of shit ten is 🫶

#look . i LOVE ten . esp whatevers going on w him in s3 he's horrible and i like that #but just !! martha :(#its so incredibly unfair to martha he doesnt unleash his wrath on the Family he chooses to hide instead and okay yeah fair #and sure u can say the tardis chose the setting and time period for them to hide in but like #did that not filter in to his calculations he went through all that turned himself human put his friendship with martha to the test in #the worst way possible. knowing she wouldn't let herself leave him even if he was Abhorrent towards her (and he was) because #of her duty to the universe and beyond and whatever . to blend in and keep the Family off their tails #and she's put in a demeaning position and degraded and even he doesn't seem to care much for her but she still hangs on #and then in the end its like its all for naught. all that pain and suffering martha went through being the only one w her wits about her #he had the capacity to deal w the threat the whole time he had the ability to dole out a horrible punishment he could definitely #have dealt with them a different way than that too .#and instead in his quest to be the bigger person he ends up putting martha through the horrors and then #does the same with the Family anyway ! i dont think he can ever tell her how harshly he dealt with them #surely this isnt an original thought im just thinking Way too much about blue moon by niki #he Does care more about being good than being good to her specifically !! and its so upsetting theyre so volatile i miss them #its more complicated than that sure but at the same time. it sort of isnt .#anyway martha jones my love my life u deserved at least a billion apologies alongside the thanks like god . whats wrong w him #oh and also he wants to move on without properly talking about it . act as if it never happened #like girl be fucking considerate for ONCE she just went through a personal hell for you !!! how insanely lonely she must of been #i dont believe martha ever let him just brush past it w no acknowledgement like yes i think she definitely didnt want to discuss the #accidental confession but i Do think she would sit him down to finally get him to Accept he cant just take her wherever in the past #if he's not ready to look out for her . its a vital conversation i think they need to have otherwise martha would just walk out there #not even love could make her stay through that its been established already she has the strength to try walk away #and also to try and but through his bullshit and demand answers . and here more than ever she deserves his acknowledgement and he Knows it

see I am very disjointed from a lot of nine/ten fandom discourse because I genuinely believe that in a different world where space boy was not to be seen, had an older Rose gone to the hospital and bumped into a certain Doctor Jones by a vending machine or as she was taking Rose’s vitals, she would have instantly hit it off with Martha. and probably flirted with her a little on accident and then on purpose when Martha flirted back

#I can see Martha raising an eyebrow as she catches Rose (who definitely snuck out despite being on bedrest) by the vending machine #Rose probably snuck out of bed because the girl in the bed next to her was crying and she wanted to make her feel better #because she doesn’t really like hospitals either #and when she tells Martha this she’s surprised when the Doctor (who seems quite strong and a little serious) suddenly smiles #and shows her a trick to get extra sweets and chocolate out of the machine #and then tells her to hurry because the check-in sweep of Rose’s ward is about to begin #you just KNOW Rose would be Martha’s most combative patient but in all the best ways #always asking what that machine does. what that incomprehensible doctor scrawl means. if there’s something she can do to help other patients #and Martha loves it. loves how much Rose cares just like her. they gossip and they chat about their daily lives. they get closer #everytime Martha has to scold Rose for sneaking out of bed or doing something she shouldn’t #(even though she secretly adores it. she’s never really mad she just wants Rose to take care of herself as well as other people)#she sighs and says (in her most firm but still fond tone) ‘Miss Tyler-’#only to be struck in the heart again with a cheeky grin and a ‘yes Doctor Jones?’#and also Rose loves that Martha is a doctor. that Martha cares. that she works overtime. that almost all Martha’s patients love her #and the ones that don’t just aren’t kind people anyway. that Martha doesn’t condescend. that Martha cares and cares and cares #that Martha likes all the things about Rose that other people think make her difficult and trouble and too much #she likes the things that other people don’t like in Martha either. thinks she’s magic.#Rose Tyler is always going to love her Doctor. and Martha Jones will always love somebody who thinks everybody matters #I’m like. obsessed with them?? move OVER space boy (actually nine can get involved in this. lmao ten stay away)#they’d have been so cuteeeee #rtd failed to see the lesbionic possibility but I am no such coward. no fighting over boys here #martha jones #rose tyler #dw #doctor who
